- Large Wooden Pulpit Set -
I got this set from an online store for almost nothing. When it arrived I was amazed at the size of the pieces. I cannot do this set justice in pictures; I must also explain the kings are eight inches tall. This set is huge. The pawns alone are taller than the kings from most of my other sets. The size is impressive, but also unwieldy. I would imagine the price was right because a set of this size has little practical application. You still see a lot of Mexican Staunton sets sell on eBay with headlines like "8 inch King: Largest on eBay," though there are larger sets on eBay, of course. I think these pieces are made from Cedar. I'm sure the board that came with them is made from that wood. The grain is tell-tail. I don't believe the price I paid for these was anything amazing. If you want a set like this, you should not have to pay much. They're a frequent eBay guest at a surprisingly small price considering their amazing size.
